Guardians of Public Health
Throughout history, they’ve always answered our call, saving soldiers wounded on battlefields around the world, they’re the ones we’ve always counted on during outbreaks of deadly disease, in the wake of mass shootings and disasters… they’re the ones who rush into ERs every day and night in communities across our nation to fight for our lives. It’s always been our dedicated Doctors serving us on the frontlines.
In state legislatures and in Congress, politicians with zero medical training are making critical decisions about every single aspect of our healthcare system and letting misinformation lead to deadly outbreaks.
The administration in Washington, led by a billionaire and anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist at HHS are cutting funding to critical medical research, including cancer treatment, turning back the clock and proven childhood vaccines, and enacting policies that will cause irreparable damage to our nation’s health.
Now, we’re calling on Doctors to once again answer the call to service by running for state and federal office so that together, we can stand as the guardians of our nation’s public health.
THE PLAN
A New Class of Leaders
With Republicans dismantling our health care system at a rapid pace, America needs a new class of leaders. 314 Action plans to raise and spend over $25 million by 2030 to elect 100 new doctors to state legislatures, Governor’s offices, and federal offices.

There are currently 27 Democratic physicians serving in state legislatures, six in the U.S. Congress, and one governor. 314 Action’s new initiative to recruit and elect 100 doctors to all levels of government will build on the groundwork the organization has already established. In addition to recruitment, 314 Action will work closely with candidates throughout their campaign.
314 Action is the only national organization working to elect Democrats with backgrounds in science and medicine at ALL levels of government – from the Senate down to local school boards.
Since 2017, we’ve supported more than 500+ candidates and reached millions of swing voters on their behalf with our data-driven messaging campaigns. Our candidates led the charge to flip the House in 2018, the Senate in 2021, and a handful of state legislatures in the years since. Now, there are more scientists in office than at any point in U.S. history.
No one is better equipped to craft policy to address pressing issues like gun violence, climate change, healthcare reform, or restoring reproductive rights than scientific and medical professionals. Recent polling confirms that scientific and medical professionals have some of the highest approval ratings and levels of trust among voters – Meaning our candidates are better positioned to win tough races and can cut through the partisan divide
